Soaring Penguin Press has signed an agreement to publish Ilana Zeffren’s Urban Tails. Originally published in Hebrew, Urban Tails is a set of stories about Ilana, her wife and their two cats, Rafi and Spaghetti. But mostly it’s about the two cats.
“When we received the submission, I was immediately charmed by the gentle storytelling,” said co-publisher John Anderson. “Apart from the humour derived from living with two cats, Urban Tails also gives us a view of contemporary living in Israel.”
Ilana Zeffren is an Israeli comics artist living in Tel Aviv whose cartoon column, ‘Petting Corner’, has been published weekly in “Haaretz” newspaper. Collections of those
cartoons have been published in book form in 2015 and 2017. Urban Tails will combine both those publications.
